When Israel Comes Home - Caring or Condemning?

St. Paul audaciously claims he would go to hell if it could bring about the salvation of his fellow Jews. Jesus did exactly that in six hours on the cross. Charles Spurgeon wrote, “People often ask, ‘Will the heathen who haven’t heard the gospel be saved?’ It’s more a question whether those who have the gospel and fail to give it to those who have not, will be saved.” We will cross the divide when we stop condemning and begin to care for those on the other side.

The Beauty of Happy Feet - Hoarding or Sharing?

The great divide remains the scandal of the ages. The people of God hold the key that unlocks heaven and locks up hell. Yet so few Christians ever cross the divide to share their gospel with those who need it most. Curry Blake says, “If your gospel isn’t touching others, it hasn’t touched you!” Oswald Smith adds, “We all talk of the Second Coming, yet half of the world has never heard of the first.”

Working While Relaxing - Human Effort or Divine Choice?

Crossing the divide is not an enterprise that depends on human effort. Evangelist George White-field said, “I simply go and give what has been given to me. God does the work of saving in his way according to his time. In all my gospel labors, I relax in his labor.”

The Urgency of the Gospel

As Paul writes to the Christians in Rome, he knows that his time on earth is almost up. He has to get to Spain. He is asking them to give their money to help him get there with his gospel while there is still time. Urgency is at the heart of Romans and makes Paul say, “I have unceasing anguish in my heart” for the lost. This is the challenge in Romans nine: Are you willing to go through hell to get others out of hell?
