We do not have to wait until we die to begin enjoying heaven. The Apostle Peter tells us that we have been “born again to a living hope.” Heaven has already broken into this world, even though it is not fully here. The eternal life we receive in Christ is a quality of life that starts now but is completed then! As pilgrims passing through this life, God gives us foretastes of heaven to enjoy along the way. Therefore, we can travel through this life confident that heaven will be kept for us and we for it.
Being reunited with those we love is a sweet thing to enjoy. How much more glorious then will it be to finally behold our God face-to-face. In this message we will learn that the greatest joy of heaven will be the person we enjoy, not the place. No matter what we may cherish in this life, nothing can compare to the indescribable privilege of seeing God clearly and knowing him fully!
We all have a lot of questions about heaven; but perhaps the most common is “What will it be like?” If we are honest the thought of floating around on a cloud strumming a harp for an endless eternity is less that stimulating! This message will correct the many myths and misconceptions about heaven by examining the biblical concept of “the new heavens and the new earth.” Far from being a sleepy dream-world, heaven will be more real, tangible, and breathtaking than this present life. It will be a place where righteousness and righteous ones will dwell forever.
Since the beginning of time human beings have sought for the elusive fountain of youth. Yet we cannot escape the inevitable: our present bodies will one day wear out. Central to our hope of redemption, however, is the resurrection of our bodies in a glorified form. Murray Harris, in Raised Immortal, eloquently wrote that the resurrected saint “will know perennial rejuvenation, since he will have a prefect vehicle for God’s deathless Spirit, a body that is invariably responsive to his transformed personality.” When our soul is clothed in our resurrected bodies, we will finally be complete and free to glorify God and enjoy Him to the full.
